As we begin our tour of 2 Timothy, we take a hard look at shame. As Paul tells Timothy not to be ashamed of Christ or of Paul’s chains, we find that these are important words in an honor-shame culture, and important words in our culture, still filled with honor and shame.
We take a deep look at the famous “love passage” here in 1 Corinthians, finding not instructions for marriage, but instructions for the church. We are to love not only those who are easy to love, but those who aren’t.
We begin moving through the latter section of 1 Corinthians, talking about Spiritual Gifts, the source of those gifts, and the way those gifts function in the church.
In part 2 of 3 in Job, we look how Job and his friends respond to his suffering. How should we respond to suffering? When we suffer. When friends suffer. What does it mean to be faithful and to speak well in the midst of suffering?
