Today we are reminded to look for Jesus at work among those who are poor in sprit, those who mourn, the meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, peacemakers, the pure in heart, the persecuted, the poor, the hungry and those who weep; lifting up the lowly and bringing down the mighty.
We learn today that there is hope that we can put the things to death in this life that would cause us to sin. We embrace the power of the Holy Spirit that can put sin to death. There is redemption, hope and truth present here.
Today we see Jesus’s example in taking the lowest positions, showing hospitality to the most needy and vulnerable among us. When we follow in this new way of discipleship, competitive dynamics break down and we come to serve others and lift them up.
Today we learn to call ourselves and one another to that hard work of searching ourselves and putting to death that part of our flesh that would keep us from God.
Jesus comes to nourish us with a food that gives us strength for the journey. His flesh is true food and his blood, true drink. We are invited to journey with Him and into Him becoming the Body of Christ.
In our weakness and in scarcity, we can have hope in Jesus, the Bread of Life. He is enough. We are not chasing after fullness. We are chasing after Christ.
Today we are reminded that in all of the things we have been called to do we are participating in the revelation of the Kingdom of God and in the very Word of God alive among us.
Today we are asked to answer Jesus’s question, “who do you say that I am?” He is the hope of the world, the Son of God, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
Today, we are reminded that our identity is in Christ. We welcome Jesus into our midst and invite the Kingdom of God to lay its claim upon us so that we may be prepared to be sent out into the world.
This week we ponder the great compassion Jesus has on those in need of physical healing.
