Today we are reminded to look for Jesus at work among those who are poor in sprit, those who mourn, the meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, peacemakers, the pure in heart, the persecuted, the poor, the hungry and those who weep; lifting up the lowly and bringing down the mighty.
Today we see Jesus’s example in taking the lowest positions, showing hospitality to the most needy and vulnerable among us. When we follow in this new way of discipleship, competitive dynamics break down and we come to serve others and lift them up.
Today we are reminded that in all of the things we have been called to do we are participating in the revelation of the Kingdom of God and in the very Word of God alive among us.
Today we are asked to answer Jesus’s question, “who do you say that I am?” He is the hope of the world, the Son of God, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
This week we are invited to let the gospel take root in us. Let the seeds of the Kingdom grab you and grow and sprout in your soil.
This week we learn to hear God’s call and are invited into the family of God. We reflect on the life, work and power of Jesus Christ.
This week we talk about what it means to be Gentiles in a Jewish faith. We re-center everything in our lives around Jesus rather than thinking we own Jesus.
This week we learn about what it means to believe and how believing ought to change how we live our lives. We try to imagine how we can go into the world as followers of Christ.
This week we talk about what it means to actually follow Jesus. We talk about how commitment to Christ can be a risky and dangerous thing. The Kingdom of God is opposed to the kingdoms of the earth and claim victory without weapons.
This week we learn what the Gospel is from Jesus himself. We try to imagine what it must have sounded like to hear that God’s kingdom was coming in a world that is more distant from actual kingdoms.
